Goshen Plumbing
& Heating was started in 1956 by Delmar Yoder and Luman Troyer.
They worked out of Troyer's garage at 510 South 10th Street.
In April of 1965,
with six employees, the company relocated to 206 West Lincoln Avenue. In May
of 1969, a decision was made to locate a branch office and warehouse
in Syracuse, Indiana. The branch office was named Village Plumbing & Heating and started
with two employees. Within a year, a third employee was added.
John Plank and Elmer Stutzman became stockholders in the company on May 8, 1969.
Kim Hartman joined the group of stockholders in 1976.
The company continued
to grow, adding several more employees. Delmar
Yoder retired in August of 1982. Several years later, in June of 1986, John Plank who
was manager of Village Plumbing & Heating since its beginning, also retired. At that point, Kim Hartman
became the manager.
Goshen Plumbing & Heating moved to 411 East Lincoln Avenue in the summer of 1985. With the aid of new technology,
the Syracuse office was closed in 1993 and all calls were dispatched from the Goshen office. December of 2004 is when Goshen Plumbing & Heating moved into their newly constructed building at 1753 Eisenhower Drive N. The new location gives the needed office and storage space along with a larger show room area.
Hesston Lauver joined the company on November 26, 2001, as the General Manager and became a partner with Elmer Stutzman as sole owners in January of 2002. On January 1, 2004, Hesston Lauver became President and Owner of Goshen Plumbing & Heating.
In 2002, the GPH Construction division, specializing in the design and construction of new homes, was established. The Bath Shop was expanded to include all residential remodeling, as well as, bathrooms.
Elmer Stutzman retired to Florida in the Spring of 2006. Delmar Yoder passed away on January 30, 2007.
